Our Classes and Programmes

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of many dance styles. We teach tradional ballet technique with a focus on being quick on our feet and training smart not hard. Early ballet classes focus on developing correct technique whilst having fun using imagination games and exercises to develop our inner ballerina. As classes get older and more complex, dancers work on gaining more understanding of ballet terminology, ballet steps, and anatomy. Once dancers reach Senior level, we encourage our dancers to either choose to go on pointe and continue their ballet journey, or to maintain their ballet technique as a tool for other dance styles. Exams are offered from age 5 and are a good way to measure progress and have a goal to work towards.

Tap

The rhythm and movement of tap, created by the metal taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes, turns the dancer into a musician. Tap dance teaches the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their own bodies. Early tap classes focus on learning tap technique while having fun finding rthyms in music. Currently we are offering beginners classes for those age 5-8 and exam classes age 8+ as well as an adult class for beginners and those adults who wish to dance again .

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Through its three main styles of popping, locking, and breaking, hip-hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance. Hip hop is a fantastic form of expression which is influenced heavily by the music and the culture of street dance. Our Hip Hop classes focus on learning moves and tricks and while using age appropriate music to express emotions and themes while being a team. Currently we have 4 mini crews for dancers aged from 5 to adult.

Jazz

Jazz is a modern dance style loosely based on ballet. Classes dance to fun music that you hear on the Top 40 and are based around barre work, centre work, stretches and combinations. Early jazz classes focus on building body and spatial awareness while learning steps as well as some fun games. As classes get older and more complex, dancers work on gaining more diffcult steps and combinations. Other styles that are related to jazz such as broadway, lyrical, hip hop and latin are introduced. Combinations increase in diffculty and variety of solo, duo or group. Exams are offered from age 5 and are a good way to measure progress and have a goal to work towards.

Performance Company

Performance Company is a group who perform regularly at our own shows, local events and the occasional competition. This is a non auditioned group - we ask dancers who want to be part of this group to come and talk to us and tell us why they want to be a Company member. Company members must be aged 8 - 12 for the Junior Company and 13 + for the Senior Company. Company dancers must be taking both ballet and jazz classes. Becoming a member of the Company is a privilege. We expect our dancers who are part of the Company to be hardworking, committed and leaders within our dancing family. We aim to do a KidsFest production, a video production and perform at a couple of local events during the year.

All dancers are welcome to try a class before enrolling. Just send us a message and let us know what class or genre you would like to try and we can confirm the best option for your dancer to try. Trial classes can happen anytime - no need to wait till the start of a term.
